When I create it comes from the heart. I love people and I love, love. And there is just something about weddings - time stopping for you to celebrate your love, with your nearest and dearest all coming together for YOU. How magic is that? Its listening to the parents speak so endearingly about their daughter or son, its the laughter and smiles, its the yummy food you all share together - feast, drink and be merry.
While I adore all types of weddings, I definately have a certain "type"of clients:
You’ve got incredible style, you’re bursting with personality, your love story and energy are literally captivating. You deserve photos that reflect your vibe. That celebrate you at your most alive, not just your most perfectly posed and put together. My couples adore a little bit of fancy in their lives but are down to earth and genuine. They are styled beautifully and have moment of lots of FUN. If i say lets get on the bed with some pizza, or get in the bath, or do something even weirder, your ready to jump in and give it a go.
Your days isn't however a photoshoot - and thats why I document. The little unbashed moments, that might just be missed if you weren't paying attention. My galleries capture your WHOLE day, not just your portraits and ceremony. We want to remember all of it, in the way it unfolded -
I give you gentle direction so you don't feel awkward and uncomfortable, and I will be a fly on the wall for the rest. Im not afraid to use my voice however to hurry things along if we need too, but I like to remind my coulpes to sit back, enjoy the view, marvel in their planning skills and see the perfect party they've put together with every invitation
To me, photography is the most beautiful marriage of art and connection. It’s so much more than a job, and you are so much more than just another client in a gallery. Each client is close to my heart, and I can still remember details and vows and moments of every session I’ve had the privilege to witness. For a creative soul, it’s truly a dream come true to share these intimate, milestone moments and turn them into art that you can treasure forever.
In the words of Henry David Thoreau, “It’s not about what you look at. It’s what you see.” I believe in photographing those little things you might not even notice that capture your flow as a couple. The in-between moments, glances, crinkle-eye smiles, goosebumps. There’s nothing more beautiful and fascinating to me than the pure joy, excitement, and comfort of two people wildly in love.
There’s no need for perfect poses, perfect weather, perfect outfits (but hello black bow tie and an amazing dresses - or two!), or a perfect location to capture the perfect memory. It’s about a snapshot in time - those photos that allow you to hold a feeling in your hands.
And what an incredible thing that is.
